i’ve been to valencia before. back then, i wanted to visit the "ciudad de las artes y ciencias," but i fell in love with the city center instead – its amazing street scenes, its people, its energy. it was only on the last day that i finally decided to go. unfortunately, i had the bright idea to walk there from my hotel. the long path through the old riverbed, now transformed into a park, was full of distractions – so many things to photograph.

by the time i arrived, the sun was almost gone. i knew nothing about the location, made a few decent shots, but the reflections on the water weren’t visible because of the wind. disappointed, i left. the next morning, i had to fly home.

months later, i came across an instagram ad from daniel mittermeier, a german photographer offering workshops in valencia – at the exact spot i’d struggled with. i reached out to him, and we met in munich. daniel was an incredible teacher and location expert.

a few weeks ago, we finally met in valencia. daniel guided me from spot to spot. the weather was perfect – winter sun, no wind. i haven’t even edited all the photos yet, but a few are here for you to see.

what i found most fascinating was how different our photos turned out. our compositions, our focus, our perspectives – they were all so unique. even in post-processing, the contrasts were striking. but isn’t that the beauty of photography? one scene, two photographers, two completely different interpretations. i love this diversity.

what i want to share with you: keep returning to the same places. don’t let small frustrations hold you back. embrace the moment – just you and your camera. over time, you’ll start to understand the location, feel its rhythm, know the perfect time to be there. and one day, you’ll see the scene you’ve been waiting for, the one you’ve dreamed of. and when you press the shutter, that rush of happiness will fill you. isn’t that what we’re all searching for?
